In Central Florida, one in eight of our neighbors is facing hunger. Among them are families living in multigenerational households, like Megan’s.
Last year, Megan’s mother moved in with her family. They hoped combining into one household would save money on rent and childcare. But her growing kids need clothes and school supplies. And her mom was prescribed a new, expensive medication.
Megan started shopping at a local food pantry supported by Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, where she selects fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meats, and pantry staples. She also receives nutrition education to make healthier diet and lifestyle choices.
“The money I would have spent on groceries can now cover other bills,” explains Megan. “This is such a blessing.”
The heightened cost of living can make it challenging for families to put nutritious food on the table. With your support, every dollar donated to Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida can provide four meals (and hope) for families like Megan’s when they need it most.
