When Cassie and Sabrina — sisters, best friends, and professional voiceover actors — watched a story on social media about people in their community relying on Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida to keep food on the table, they worked together to rally support for kids and families.
You might think you aren’t big enough or old enough to help, but you are,” explains Cassie.
They started donating financially from their Glow Girls Kid Voiceover business, but wanted to do more to inspire and engage others to get involved. The sisters launched a virtual food drive and set it up as a friendly sibling rivalry all in the name of raising funds to help others.
“It was amazing to see all the support from family, friends, and fans,” said Sabrina.
Knowing that every dollar donated helps provide four meals, the sisters promoted their virtual food drive on social media through updates, videos and thank you notes to their supporters. In the end, over 6,800 meals were donated through their efforts last year and they at it again this summer!
The sisters say there is no downside to starting a virtual food drive. You and your family, friends and coworkers can work together on a virtual food drive this summer too.
