Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida recently hosted a virtual Town Hall to discuss the special need for support in fighting childhood hunger in Central Florida, especially during the summer months. Second Harvest President and CEO Dave Krepcho and VP of Food Services Nancy Brumbaugh shared the different childhood hunger programs in place to relieve the financial burden on families facing hunger. Watch their conversation below.
One in 5 children is at risk of going to bed hungry – that’s over 153,000 kids in the 6-county service area in Central Florida. Through the community’s support, Second Harvest is working to beat those odds with programs like its Summer Food Service program, 7 Day Boxes, Family Meal Boxes, Kids Cafe, School Markets and Kids Packs. These different programs work together to combat hunger not only in the summer but all year long.
“It is the combination of all of these programs that provide food for children throughout our community,” said Krepcho. “It’s a multi-dimensional solution. None of this would be possible without the generosity of our supporters.”
Thank you for making a difference in the lives of kids and families this summer.
