Second Harvest’s production kitchen has ramped up its efforts to fight hunger during the COVID-19 pandemic. The kitchen has extended beyond its walls, converted former meeting room space into temporary quarters and distributed 1.5 million meals to kids and seniors in Central Florida.
With generous support from Orange County Government’s CARES Act funding and community members like you, Second Harvest will open Mercy Kitchen, located just a few miles north of the main Orlando warehouse, in late December. Mercy Kitchen will double the size and triple the capacity of meal production for programs like Kids Café, Summer Food Service Programs, Plates of Plenty and disaster relief efforts while providing more volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups who want to lend a hand in the fight against hunger.
Take a behind-the-scenes video tour of the new Mercy Kitchen, now under construction with our food services team!
