Childhood hunger impacts one in five Central Florida kids. It not only keeps children from reaching their full potential but also significantly affects their health, development, and well-being. It can lead to poor academic performance, diet-related diseases, mental health issues and behavioral problems, creating challenges that can be difficult to overcome.
It doesn’t have to be this way. You can make a difference and help nourish futures as a volunteer, virtual food drive organizer, financial supporter and advocate.
Your actions this summer are critical. Your support directly impacts children like Carlos, making it possible to distirbute nutritious food to kids and families across Central Florida.
At 13 years old, Carlos represents the potential that lies within every child. He is already planning for his future and wants to see positive changes in his community.
“I’ll go to law school, then serve on city council, but I really want to be president,” Carlos says. As a teenager, he notices opportunities to add more parks and places for kids to play. He sees how a lack of education and access to healthcare can impact someone’s life, so he wants to tackle those big issues, too. But first, there’s lunch.
“The food is good, especially the tacos,” Carlos says before heading out for an afternoon of soccer and an epic water balloon toss.
He focuses on his future one meal and one day at a time.
Your support helps nourish futures.
