As we say goodbye to summer and gear up for fall, we want to thank everyone who participated in the Summer Hope for Kids Virtual Food Drive.
From the generous companies that engaged their employees – such as Disney, AdventHealth, AAA, and SunTrust – to the caring, compassionate individuals who poured their hearts into fighting hunger, we truly can’t thank you enough. Together, you provided nearly 60,000 meals to kids and families in need!
I always love seeing the creative ways that fundraisers go the extra mile, and our friends at the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office certainly raised additional funds for their “Sheriff’s Summer Hope” drive in the most delicious way.
Sergeant Daniel Shivers used his personal barbecue business, Superchunk’s BBQ, to take a huge bite out of hunger. The Sergeant and his team prepared and delivered 269 mouth-watering meals to employees of the Sheriff’s Office. Each meal was a $5 donation to Second Harvest, which provides 20 meals to those in need.
Between their Virtual Food Drive and fundraising barbecue, this incredible group provided nearly 11,000 meals to kids and families in need. Amazing!
