Cathleen is taking action to help fight hunger in more ways than one.
She started as a volunteer three years ago. She remembers the original production kitchen at Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida’s main Orlando warehouse where she became a dedicated volunteer packing meals for kids. Today she can often be found donning a white chef’s coat and hair net at Mercy Kitchen, leading teams of individual volunteers and groups in a meal packing assembly line.
But there’s more to her story.
“I realized that $25 a month is less than a cup of coffee every morning, so I became a monthly donor,” explains Cathleen. “I know the funds provide good, healthy food.”
As a mom, she’s glad to play a part in fighting childhood hunger and ensuring kids in her community have fresh vegetables, whole grains, and the kinds of foods she would be proud to serve her own kids.
One in five kids in Central Florida faces hunger. Cathleen’s actions as a consistent volunteer and monthly donor fight hunger faster by providing sustainable resources and helping hands.
