As I gather my family for the holidays, I’m reminded of the joys of the season that I experienced as a child. When I recall the twinkling lights, the wrapped gifts, and the wonderful smell of dinner wafting in from my mother’s kitchen, I am so grateful for these incredible memories.
Today, I also think about the 1 in 6 children in Central Florida and their families who work hard but may not be able to provide a festive celebration this year. In a community so abundant in food resources, these children should never feel left out of the holiday spirit.
But the good news is that people like you extend kindness to our friends and neighbors—people who understand their challenges and are determined to help. Your generosity fuels Second Harvest Food Bank and keeps food and hope flowing to kids, families and seniors after experiencing job loss, emergency medical bills, hurricanes and whatever curveballs may come their way.
As you read this, I hope you feel a sense of fulfillment. Your support has the power to bring hope into the lives of others and brighten their holiday season; for that, we are truly grateful.
Thank you, and Happy Holidays!
