When I think of summer, my mind always goes back to the concept of preparedness. Living in Florida, that’s a concept that we can all relate to when the temperature climbs. As the community’s emergency food supply, our team at Second Harvest plans for this season carefully to ensure that we can rise to the occasion if we are called upon again this year to provide significant storm relief.
However, the word preparedness can have several meanings for our neighbors facing hunger.
For a child, preparedness is a decent breakfast to fuel their day filled with sports, arts and crafts, and fun with their friends. For a working parent, it means having enough nutritious food in their lunchbox to make it through the shift.
Whatever comes to mind when you think of preparedness, I want you to know that we are grateful that you have always been so prepared to help your neighbors with food when they’ve needed you most. Your support makes a tremendous difference for thousands of families, kids and seniors in our community.
Thank you!
