We are all HOGstars!

Definition of a HOGstar (noun), a person who supported the Hogs Against Hunger fundraiser and ride to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida’s Hi-Five program. 

Hogstars come in many different forms. Some purchased raffle tickets online or at an event. Some shared or retweeted about the fundraiser. Some came out to participate in a ride down I-4 last Sunday. Some sold tickets in the Harley stores, and some volunteered to spread the word. Finally some spent tireless hours organizing and working the events. But no matter what kind of HOGstar you were, you were able to help raise over $45,000 to feed children in need in our community by purchasing $10 raffle tickets to win a 2011 Harley-Davidson Road King Classic.

The Calm after the Shoe Storm

And just like that, Wine Women & Shoes has come to an end for 2011!  Want the good news?  It was a GIANT success.  Second Harvest Food Bank could not be more thrilled with how fabulous our first Wine Women & Shoes fundraising event turned out.  The ladies came, shopped, bid and sipped all afternoon and overall had a great time.

There were 8 wineries (pouring over 20 different varieties of wine), 13 boutiques selling beautiful merchandise, 20 fabulous Shoe Guys, 15 models for our fashion show, 11 live auction lots, over 80 silent auction items, and a Key to the Closet raffle that included items worth well over $6,000. There was much to see and do over the 4 hours of the event.

So the big question is … how much did we make?! I am very proud to say that the first year of Wine Women & Shoes brought in over $85,000 to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. But even more than the money, we made 300 new friends as well. These dollars raised will go straight to feeding our neighbors in need. Read More …

Cruisin’ for Charity

Cruisin’ for Charity is a fun car event that supports Second Harvest Food Bank each month. We are alway impressed by all the creative and exciting ways our supporters raise money for Second Harvest!

All cars, trucks, old, new, classic, street rod and more come together every third Thursday of the month from 5-9 p.m. at Hammock Landing Shopping Center, 225 Palm Bay Road, West Melbourne. The event is hosted by the Mopars of Brevard Car Club and sponsored by Five Guys Burgers & Fries, Discount Tire and Kohl’s of West Melbourne.

All proceeds from this event go to Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. In a year, more than $6,600 has been given to Second Harvest to help the fight against hunger in Brevard County. Last month, over 250 cars participated in Cruisin’ for Charity and $705 was raised for Second Harvest Food Bank! Read More …

Fashion Show Final Count Down: Tickets Are Selling Out, Leslye Gayle as MC, Local Celebrities Modeling For Second Harvest

If you have been following this blog, then you know that we are now counting down to one of the most fun filled events of the season! We are all set with our Fashion Show at the Wine Women and Shoes event this Saturday, April 23^rd at Royal Plaza Hotel. 

The catwalk for the Fashion Show along with the rest of the 10,000 square feet ballroom space at Royal Plaza Hotel is already being set up! This week we are busy setting up the back drop, audio visual and doing final rehearsals. Magic 107.7’s Leslye Gayle offered be our emcee! Leslye had us over for coffee this morning at her office to wrap up final details. She, too, is very excited for a whole day of shopping and fashion!

With that, as promised, I’d like to continue to introduce our fashion stylist and our models who have all volunteered their time for this spectacular event filled with fashion and wine!  You might recognize our stylist and some of our models. Paris, Going Once, Going Twice, SOLD…

Here we are, 3 weeks away from Second Harvest Food Bank’s very first Wine Women & Shoes fundraising event.  I’m sure you’ve heard by now about the fabulous food, fashion, wine and shopping that will be featured!  What you may or may not be aware of are the amazing auctions and raffles that we are hosting.

First, you will be able to browse our wonderful display of silent auction items.  We will have everything from mini vacations and spa gift certificates to a collection of wines from each of the wineries in attendance.  If you’re feeling a little guilty about having such a wonderful “you” day, not to worry, we’ll also have items for your children, pets and husbands!

After you’ve put your name down on all of the exciting bid sheets, head over to our one of a kind raffle.  You’ll have the chance to win the “Keys to the Closet!”  What’s this you ask?  We have created a woman’s dream closet in the corner of the ballroom featuring a gift certificate to California Closets (closet make over in your near future!?), shoes, jewelry, handbags, a hotel stay, a spa day, a trip to the salon, shopping gift certificates from local boutiques, etc… We will draw the winning key and this lucky lady gets to take home all of the contents of her new closet!  Sound too good to be true? Well IT’S NOT!  Someone will win this the day of the event!  It could be you!
