Commissioner Adam Putnam recently visited the new Morgan & Morgan Hunger Relief Center while leading a meeting of the statewide group called “Healthy Schools For Healthy Lives”. This group has been appointed to work with his senior staff to analyze and advise on how nutrition can be improved for students and their families across Florida.
During a tour of the facility, the Commissioner Putnam was particularly impressed with the size and scope of Second Harvest’s ability to move millions of pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables provided by Florida farmers. The kinds of calories being provided to people in need has recently increased and will have an impact on their health and well-being.
This kind of impact is a wonderful example of collaboration between the public and independent sectors. Thank you Commissioner and thank you to the farmers of Florida.
