Last Sunday, volunteers gathered at the Fashion Square Mall to break down Canstruction builds local architects, engineers, and organizations designed and built out of only cans and nonperishable goods. This year’s theme was Hunger Heroes, and there were definitely no shortage of those!
In total, 42,129 pounds of canned and nonperishable goods were donated from the event. That is almost 10,000 more pounds over last year, and quite a hero feat. That food will now be sorted and packaged into family boxes, via volunteers, and soon be going out to feed more kids, families, and seniors.
Special thanks to David Stone and Keith Newhouse, Chairs of Canstruction Orlando, the entire Canstruction Committee, Orlando Fashion Square, and all the teams who participated this year for the positive impact you have made on our community, once again. Also, we would like to thank Chris of real. simple. photos., and Kevin of DSWfoto for the amazing photos you took and shared with us of this event! Every single one of you is a Hunger Hero to our community.
