On August 8th, 2015, as the 26th anniversary of Orlando’s Taste of the Nation for No Kid Hungry was celebrated, chefs from all over Central Florida gathered together to showcase their talents and to treat the palates of over 2,000 guests that joined them at the Orlando World Center Marriott. The best part of the event – which featured music from DJ Jeff Townsend, craft beers and cocktails, delicious food from some of Central Florida’s best chefs, and an exciting silent auction – was the fact that an outstanding $277,160 was raised!
These funds support the childhood hunger programs of Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida, statewide organization Florida Impact and national beneficiary Share our Strength.
This amazing fundraiser would not have been possible without the efforts of the dedicated Taste of the Nation committee – Second Harvest Food Bank thanks you for lending your time and helping to make this event such a success! An extra special thanks to the compassionate and committed Taste of the Nation co-chairs that led the committee, Bill Sullivan of I. Wanna Distributors, Inc. and Michele Byington of Regions Bank for another incredible Taste of the Nation in the books – this year’s event simply could not have existed without them. We appreciate Bill, Michele, and the Taste of the Nation committee for being such Hunger Heroes in our community!
We would also like to give a shout out to all of the chefs, sponsors, volunteers and guests that also contributed to the success of Orlando’s Taste of the Nation for No Kid Hungry. We thank you for your support, and hope everyone that attended had a wonderful night! Can’t wait to see you all at next year’s event!
