On November 1st, the Boy Scouts of America distributed grocery bags into the Central Florida community for this year’s Scouting for Food food drive. On November 8th, you responded by donating over 400,000lbs of food! Thanks to your generous support, local boy scouts picked up and delivered bags 96,000lbs of donated nonperishable foods to 13 different sites across Central Florida and the remaining straight to other Central Florida agencies.
Unloading trucks, trailers, vans, and cars, Boy Scouts and volunteers sorted through donated goods and packed family boxes that were picked up later by over 120 of Second Harvest’s feeding partners. Those agencies can now provide more food for our Central Florida neighbors, just in time for the holidays, all thanks to your generous support!
Thank you to everybody who donated to this year’s Scouting for Food drive. With the help of your kindness and our Boy Scouts of America, volunteers, and partner agencies, more kids, struggling families, and seniors will not have to decide between having enough food and paying for rent, utilities, or their prescriptions. It’s a true team effort to fight hunger in our community. Thank you for being a part of that!
