Taste of the Nation is a Huge Success!

Taste of the Nation is a Huge Success!Another night to remember is in the books. Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation Orlando 2013 was absolutely incredible. Over 2,000 guests poured into the Orlando World Center Marriott on Saturday, August 10th all for the same purpose…to help fight childhood hunger in our community.

Thanks to the incredible planning committee, all the restaurants and chefs, sponsors, and each and every person who bought a ticket, auction item, or wine key…Taste of the Nation Orlando was able to raise $245,000! All the money raised will go toward ending childhood hunger. The proceeds are split between Share our Strength, Florida Impact, Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida, and Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.

This huge event doesn’t just come together on its own. There is a group of generous volunteers that serve on the planning committee. This committee is led by two rock stars, Bill Sullivan and Michele Byington. Without them there would be no Taste of the Nation. There are not enough thanks in the world to really express the gratitude we feel toward Michele, Bill, and the entire committee. They are all true hunger heroes and make a tremendous difference in the lives of children right here in Central Florida each year.

Taste of the Nation would be nothing without the fantastic food and drink. In my personal opinion, I thought the food this year was the best one yet! It was truly a foodies dream. All of the restaurants, chefs, and drink distributors donate all of their time and product to this event. This ensures that 100% of every ticket purchased goes directly to feeding children.

We can’t forget to thank Taste of the Nation’s sponsors especially Darden Restaurants and the Orlando World Center Marriott. Also, huge a thank you belongs to Share Our Strength. They are doing amazing work though out the country to make sure children know where their next meal is coming from. Second Harvest is very lucky to be a local beneficiary of their amazing event.

Although Taste 2013 is over, I am already thinking about 2014. Why? Because Taste of the Nation Orlando turns 25 years old! Except to see big things next year and we can’t wait to see everyone out there again for our silver jubilee!
