Charity Navigator Confirms 4-Star Rating

This October, Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida achieved a 4-star rating by Charity Navigator for the eighth year in a row! This coveted rating demonstrates Second Harvest’s strong financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency.

At Second Harvest, we are proud of this accomplishment because it reaffirms our values of integrity, accountability, service and stewardship.

You may recall in September, Charity Navigator also recognized Second Harvest as one of the best organizations to donate to in the wake of Hurricane Irma. In a Business Insider article, a Charity Navigator spokesperson explained that local organizations will continue to work in the community long after a disaster has occurred. Read More …

We are pleased to announce that RunDisney has named Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida as the celebratory charity for this year’s Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend presented by MISFIT™. We’re looking for runners for the 5K, 10K and the Half Marathon races happening November 3-5, 2017. A Sip-Sational Day at Wine Women & Shoes!

Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida Presents Wine Women & Shoes Orlando 2014Stilettos, wedges, and sandals oh my! It looked like every woman that arrived on the red carpet was ready to compete for “Best in Shoe” at Second Harvest Food Bank’s Wine Women & Shoes event!

On April 12, 2014 over 400 ladies shopped, sipped fabulous wine, and supported our neighbors who struggle for food at this 4th annual event. SeaWorld invited us back to their Ports of Call event space which includes a beautiful room, scenic outside patio, and of course a few animal friends! Thank you SeaWorld Park & Resorts for your support and generosity!

Without further ado I’d like to announce that Wine Women & Shoes 2014 raised $131,688! With these much needed funds Second Harvest will be able to provide $1,185,192 worth in food value for people that need it most because of your generous contributions. Read More …

Second Harvest receives Four-Star Charity Rating

Greetings! As someone who cares about hunger in Central Florida, I wanted to share with you a bit of exciting news. Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida was recently notified that our organization has been awarded the top rating of four-stars from Charity Navigator, the nation’s leading evaluator of non-profit groups.

According to Charity Navigator, the four-star designation is awarded to non-profits that exceed industry standards in organizational efficiency, revenue growth, administrative expenses, and other key management areas.

Thanks to that trust, and to your generous support, our organization continues to make a deep and lasting impact on the lives of struggling families throughout Central Florida. Last year, Second Harvest Food Bank reached a record-setting distribution of 33 million pounds of food which is equivalent to 22 million meals.
