Spoontember Challenges You to Spread Awareness About Hunger

Second Harvest Food Bank employees participating in SpoontemberDid you know that 1 in 6 people struggle with hunger, or that 1 in 4 kids are not getting adequate nutrition to grow into healthy adults? You may, but many people to not. The face of hunger can be your neighbor down the street, the person sitting next to you on the bus, that child playing next to yours on the playground – it could be you or me.

Sometimes all it takes is bringing awareness to hunger to make a difference! You can do your small part by joining Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida and food banks across the country in the Feeding America Network to bring awareness with spoons. yes spoons!  We challenge you all to spread awareness by taking an orange spoon selfie and challenging your friends to do the same.

It’s easy to share a ‘spoon selfie’ and support Hunger Action Month. Here are a few ways:

• Grab a spoon
• Do your best to balance it on your nose
• Take a picture of your ‘spoon selfie’
• Now share!
