September is Hunger Action Month

September is Hunger Action MonthThis September Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is supporting Hunger Action Month. Hunger Action Month encourages people to learn about hunger in their community and help spread the word as well. This year’s theme for Hunger Action Month is: “Together We Can Solve Hunger”.

Here at Second Harvest Food Bank we couldn’t agree with that statement more! Whether you volunteer with us, spread the word, or donate food or funds you’re able to make a huge difference right here in Central Florida. We’re asking that you help be a solution this year because over 731,900 people received food assistance from Second Harvest Food Bank last year. These are our friends, neighbors, and co-workers.

Check out our 30 ways in 30 days calendar online. This calendar will help you find one action you can take every day during the month of September to help spread the word about hunger.

A few highlight actions you can take:

  • Go Orange on September 5th by wearing orange or turning your Facebook orange
  • Check out the Amway Center Tower September 1st-5th to see it lit orange for hunger!
  • Download our “Meet Kate” cutout here and take pictures of her adventures this month. Tweet, Instagram or Facebook your photo with hashtag #feedhopenow, or email your Kate photo to and Second Harvest will post it!
  • Join us for our Guest Chef Night featuring SeaWorld Executive Chef, Hector Colon on Thursday, September 19th from 6:30-9:00 pm. Tickets and more information can be found here.

Make sure to stay tuned to our Facebook account at: all month long to see pictures and updates.
