September is Hunger Action Month!

PLATE-GRAPHICS---Support-my-familyEvery September, Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida and Food Banks across the nation participate in Hunger Action Month. During this time we ask our communities to lend their voice and spread the word about hunger.

Will you lend us your voice this September for Hunger Action Month?

30 Ways in 30 Days

Use our online “30 Ways in 30 Days” calendar to find activities that can be done each day in September to help fight hunger here in Central Florida. Some actions are small like sharing a statistic about hunger in Central Florida via Facebook while some are larger like attending one of the special events that month.

Skip a Meal Challenge!
1 in 6 Central Floridians struggle with hunger. How can you help?

2. Donate what you would have spent on lunch to provide meals to those in need at

3. Share on Social media and challenge 3 friends to take the Skip a Meal Challenge with hashtag #SkipAMeal.

Social Media verbiage:

“I accepted the Second Harvest Skip a Meal Challenge to donate my lunch money to provide meals to my neighbors in need. I challenge (friend), (friend) and (friend) to do the same. #SkipAMeal”

*Skipping a meal is a personal choice, and not a requirement for this challenge.
