On Friday, March 7, 2014, nine students graduated from Second Harvest’s Culinary Training Program. We couldn’t be more proud of these nine individuals and wish them much success out in the work force!

The students held internship positions at: Foodie Catering, Isleworth Country Club, Siemens Corporate Dining, First Baptist Orlando and the Darden Foundation Community Kitchen.
We are happy to report that all nine students have been placed in culinary jobs at the following companies: IHOP, Panera Bread, Foodie Catering, Isleworth Golf & Country Club, Compass-USA, Second Harvest Food Bank and Errol Estate Country Club.
The students successfully completed a 14-week program. Their curriculum is divided into three (four-week) tiers covering food safety and sanitation, knife skills, and the basic culinary foundations needed to successfully obtain an entry-level position in any food service establishment across the country. While enrolled, students experience every aspect of the food service industry, from inventory and cost control, staffing and training, to production in a high-volume kitchen through banquet and catering operations, while developing a recipe portfolio they can use during job interviews. In addition, students hone their interview skills through on-site job fairs and mock interview opportunities. Our job placement assistance program helps guide students on the path to gainful employment as they approach graduation.
