Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit Expo Donate 258,815 lbs of Food

PMA Food Show 2016On October 14th, the Produce Marketing Association (PMA) held their annual Fresh Summit Expo at the Orange County Convention Center. At the end,  they donated 258,815 pounds of fresh, top-of-the-line produce to the food bank. That is over 6 full tractor trailer loads of rescued food, that quickly went out the doors to our feeding partners and into the delighted hands of our Central Florida neighbors in need.

“The Produce Marketing Association donation represents the single largest donation of fresh fruits and vegetables our food bank has ever received at one time,” says Dave Krepcho, president and CEO of Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. “It’s not only the massive amount of the donation, but the highly nutritious nature of the products that are the real payoff for our families in need.”

A heartfelt THANK YOU to all volunteers and staff who worked together to help in this very important step to providing healthy food for our clients – about 194,111 meals worth!  It took a lot of hard work and coordination, and I applaud the amazing effort you took in helping distribute it.PMA Food Show 2016 PMA Food Show 2016
