Position Summary:  
The Second Harvest Catering Sales Manager is a full time, salaried position with full healthcare benefits paid. The Catering Sales Manager must have a passion for customer service, a healthy obsession with attention to detail and organization, and a commitment to supporting SHFB’s mission through compassion and an appreciation for hunger and poverty issues.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate, book, and plan business and social events on Second Harvest property.
  • Coordinate requested services including, but not limited to, meeting room set-up and break down, schedule of events, rental space assignments, food and beverage requirements, audio/visual equipment, staffing needs, outside vendor contracts (floral, tents, photographers, etc.) using banquet and catering software.
  • Work closely with multiple internal departments to execute successful events.
  • Maintain all Second Harvest event calendars.
  • Work with Banquet Captain to ensure a smooth, well-organized and flawless execution of events.
  • Solicit new and repeat business to reach monthly sales goals.
  • Maintain and update standard operating procedures.
  • Execute exemplary customer service to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty by assisting the customer and ensuring their satisfaction before and during their program/event.
  • Coordinate and schedule site visits for meeting spaces prior to events. Follow up with guests after events to ensure high guest satisfaction.
  • Prepare and provide financial reports and guest satisfaction metrics to key management.
  • Maintain organized and accurate records of guest contracts, transactions, event details, and vendor contracts.
  • Ready and able to assist with different areas of the Community Kitchen program as assigned.

Job Specifications

  • Minimum three years of successful catering sales experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in appropriate discipline
  • Attention to detail and strong ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
  • Advanced level skills working with Outlook, MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel and the ability to quickly learn similar programs including catering and banquet systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to work in a team environment and deal effectively with various levels of internal and external clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines and changing priorities, while maintaining the highest levels of customer service.
  • Self-directed, self-motivated, detail-oriented and takes initiative, with excellent time management skills.
  • High degree of professionalism and ability to work with limited direction.
  • Ability to perform required kitchen duties as assigned, including standing for long periods of time, lifting (which may include up to 50 lbs.), bending, working in a wet, humid and loud environment, and working in rooms with cool temperatures (below 40° F).
  • Flexibility with business demands including some evenings and weekends.
  • Commitment to understanding and supporting SHFB’s mission; shows compassion and an appreciation for hunger and poverty issues.
