Here is an update before Hurricane Irma hits about the preparations that Second Harvest Food Bank has started for the aftermath of the storm. We are closely monitoring the storm and are cautiously optimistic.
We have taken inventory of the resources we have in stock at all our warehouses. We are supplying hot meals to local shelters after the storm and in the recovery phase. If needed, we will have additional product brought in from across the Feeding America network and this will assist us when we begin distribution for the hardest hit areas in the state. We are prepared and ready to serve our community in the aftermath.
Our Disaster Relief web page currently has a list of emergency resources, and information about how you can help after the storm hits. A call to action for volunteers will also be posted here and on our homepage if it is needed.
Our offices will be closed on Monday but ready to open Tuesday to help with disaster relief. Local community support will be needed after the storm and we will communicate specific needs as they are determined.
Thank you for your ongoing support. Please stay safe during the storm.
