Hurricane Irma Food Drop in Brevard

Second Harvest Food Bank partnered with Hands for Healing in Palm Bay for a mobile food drop after Hurricane Irma.

Brevard County suffered mass power outages and faced boil water notices in many communities after the storm. As Annie reports in the video below, people lost everything. There was a lot of damage and food distributions were just one way to help people get back to normal.

The food bank provided a truckload of food filled with dairy, meat and produce items, along with water and other shelf stable items. The organization sent out a mass text to its distribution list.

Hands for Healing received a 40’ refrigerated cargo container in February from Second Harvest through the Bank of America Agency Capacity Grant. This container enables Hands for Healing to execute food drops on a massive scale throughout the year.
