As of this morning, Hurricane Dorian continues to strengthen. We are working closely with government and non-profit partners to prepare.
Before Dorian hits, I’d like to give you an update on the preparations that Second Harvest Food Bank has made for the aftermath of the storm. Inventory has been taken of the resources available in our Brevard, Volusia and Orange County warehouses.
If needed, additional product will be brought in from across the Feeding America network, which will assist us in distributing food in the hardest-hit areas in the state.
Our kitchen team is working this weekend to supply meals to local shelters. This will continue during the recovery phase.
Visit our Disaster Relief webpage next week for a list of emergency resources, and information about how you can help after the storm. A call to action for volunteers will also be posted here and on our homepage, if needed.
As of right now, our offices will be closed Monday and possibly Tuesday, but ready to open as soon as possible to help with disaster relief. Local community support will be needed after the storm and we will communicate specific needs as they are determined. Thank you for your ongoing support. Please stay safe during the storm.
