On Saturday, May 10th, letter carriers all across the nation packed their trucks full of bags and boxes brimming over with donations of canned foods, boxed cereal, spaghetti sauces, and other nonperishable food items for the 22nd Annual National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive!
In Central Florida, the week before, letter carriers left postcards and grocery bags donated Publix in your mailbox as a reminder, and you responded! That Saturday, postal trucks heavy with donations filtered into some thirteen post office locations across Orange, Seminole, and Brevard County. Once delivered, volunteers and Second Harvest staff unpacked and separated dry foods, canned goods, and other items into bins that would then be delivered to Second Harvest Food Bank. Working with nearly 550 local feeding partners, your donations will now go into our community and provide hunger relief for kids, families, seniors, and low-income adults!
A special thanks our community, and all of the hard-working letter carriers, volunteers and staff that helped make this May 10th food drive a huge success! Because of your generosity, you helped provide over 300,000 pounds of food to our hungry neighbors in need. Thank you for being a Hunger Hero, Central Florida. We at Second Harvest could not do what we do without your constant support and kindness.
