Help kids like Rebecca grow and learn this summer.

Yesterday, I got a firsthand look at the impact that your support of the Summer Hope for Kids campaign makes on our community, and I want to say thank you.

At lunchtime, I visited Midway Safe Harbor in Sanford, which is one of Second Harvest’s summer feeding sites. At Midway, the kids’ days are filled with learning, creating, playing, and eating nutritious, delicious meals.

I saw nothing but smiles as the kids sat down to a lunch of a chicken fiesta bowls. My new friend Rebecca even told me, “The food we eat here helps us grow and is so good for us.”

For low-income families who rely on school for regular meals, summer feeding sites like Midway help ease the anxiety that comes with the end of the school year. You make it possible.

There’s still one month until school is back in session, and your support is crucial in ensuring that thousands of children have continued access to the healthy food they need this summer.

Your Virtual Food Drive will help supply hot, wholesome meals to kids at day cares, summer camps, libraries, mobile home communities, apartment complexes and so much more.

In this final month of summer break, let’s show local kids that the only thing warmer than the weather is the love we share in our community.
