If you have been following this blog, then you know that we are now counting down to one of the most fun filled events of the season! We are all set with our Fashion Show at the Wine Women and Shoes event this Saturday, April 23rd at Royal Plaza Hotel.
The catwalk for the Fashion Show along with the rest of the 10,000 square feet ballroom space at Royal Plaza Hotel is already being set up! This week we are busy setting up the back drop, audio visual and doing final rehearsals. Magic 107.7’s Leslye Gayle offered be our emcee! Leslye had us over for coffee this morning at her office to wrap up final details. She, too, is very excited for a whole day of shopping and fashion!
With that, as promised, I’d like to continue to introduce our fashion stylist and our models who have all volunteered their time for this spectacular event filled with fashion and wine! You might recognize our stylist and some of our models. They are local celebrities either through their line of work or simply because of their charitable nature.
Courtney Karem, a local fashion stylist, has offered to style for the Wine, Women and Shoes Fashion Show. Courtney is best known for her television appearances and fashion columns. Courtney says that her approach to fashion is alchemic in nature. She believes in turning average into something unique and special. Her background includes studying fashion both stateside and in Europe and owning a women’s contemporary boutique.
Janet Mills Jacobs is originally from Georgia and is a graduate of Georgia State University. She has lived in Orlando for many years and is a professional model that has worked with well known designers and modeled across the country in NYC, LA, Miami andin other US metro cities. Janet has modeled for a previous Wine, Women and Shoes event that took place in Sarasota two years ago. When she heard about Orlando WWS event she reached out and offered to help. Thank you Janet, we are so glad you can help!
Eudene Harry, M.D., is board certified in both Emergency Medicine and Holistic Medicine. She is currently the Medical Director for Oasis for Optimal Health, a wellness center that focuses on integrative holistic care. Eudene is a frequent guest on Ask the Doctor, a local call-in radio program. She also serves as the Medical Director for the Women’s Wellness Society, a national society focused on women’s health. Most recently Eudene was featured on Orlando TV 27 and spoke about the role of nutrition in health care. Eudene conducts seminars and workshops for Professional Opportunities Program for students. This program is a non-profit partnership that provides educational and developmental skills training for youth.
Karina Caro is a local of Orlando and is our youngest volunteer model for our Wine, Women and Shoes Fashion Show! Karina is seventeen years old and is a junior at Olimpia High School. Karina has been modeling since she has been 12 and says that modeling is her biggest passion. She also loves meeting new people and to dance and sing. She says it’s her pleasure to donate her time to serve to help Floridians that are in need.
Christine Forte is married and mother of two little girls. She has degrees in Marketing and Interior Design and since moving to Orlando from North Carolina four years ago, she says she has enjoyed a new career in commercial & film acting and modeling. As a three year breast cancer survivor, she is involved in non-profit work for cancer awareness and prevention and finds it extremely rewarding. Christine says that she is excited about her involvement in Wine, Women & Shoes and the funds it will raise for Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. She is looking forward to a terrific event!
Shannon Herring, a lifetime resident of Winter Park, has more than 10 years experience in the Central Florida commercial real estate market. During her career, Shannon has displayed talent in all realms of commercial real estate services including leasing more than half a million square feet of office space since 2005. In 2003, she was named Florida Real Estate Journal’s “Rookie of the Year”. In 2007, she was recognized as CitiSpace Orlando’s “Top Producer of the Year”. Shannon is also a strong supporter of her local community and spends most of her off-time participating in organizations such as Special Olympics, Leadership Winter Park and the Winter Park Chamber. Shannon has modeled for several local events and says she is thrilled to help support our event.
Dena Block is the mother of a three year old little girl, Sloane. She is originally from Illinois, and a graduate of Eastern Illinois University. Dena moved to Orlando in 2001 and has worked in the fitness industry for 15 years. She is a personal trainer and also a full time instructor in the Physical Education Department at Rollins College. Dena has love and passion for the outdoors and health and wellness, she transfers that passion to her students and personal training clients on a weekly basis. Dena’s love is running and inspiring others to find the joy that leading a healthy lifestyle can bring. This event will take Dena out of her “little fitness box” and allow her to be a part of something so very special. Dena is honored and thrilled to contribute to such a special event.
Leah M. Preston was raised in Jacksonville, FL and moved to Orlando to attend the University of Central Florida. She graduated with a Bachelors in Arts and Sciences in Interpersonal and Organizational Communication in 2010. In addition to her studies and campus involvement, Leah seized many opportunities to live, volunteer, and study abroad in places like South Africa, Belize, and Greece. Through these travels, Leah has developed her love of and passion for cultures, people, and expanding her perspectives on her community and the world. At 23, Leah has also worked for the past 4 years at Chloe Lane Boutique in Winter Park. She is now a full time manager and enjoys all she continues to learn about the intricacies of running a small business. With her appreciation for culture, Leah has fun exploring new foods, recipes, and restaurants that allow her to expand her dining repertoire and to share this love with friends and family.
Our fashion partners, Jacobsons, Ginger Boutique and White House& Black Market will be showcasing the latest looks of this summer/fall and our volunteer models will be walking the catwalk to DJ Clinton’s tunes.
Clinton, originally from Las Vegas, started his DJ career at 14 years old and has spun across the United States ever since. He has played all the way from Daytona Beach to Vegas and New York City. He says he loves getting in sync with the crowds and playing his favorite tunes.
