One of the added values our Second Harvest Culinary Training Program offers is job placement assistance for our students after graduation. But we don’t focus on just any job. Instead, we train our students in such a way that they qualify for something better. When they leave Second Harvest, they leave with a better frame of mind, a better skill set, and qualify for a better salary, and a better way of life.
We partner with dozens of businesses and organizations within Central Florida who commit to paying their culinary staff an above-minimum wage rate. And when they’re hiring, we connect those businesses with our ready and able students.
We’re proud to report that our first group of students, who graduated in July, are all employed in above-minimum wage culinary jobs throughout Central Florida, and well on their way to building a better everything for themselves.
If you happen to stop by a Long Horn Steak Restaurant, dine at Orlando World Center Marriott, Disney, or Crowne Plaza in Orlando, be sure to give thanks to their Executive Chefs for helping us make a difference and change lives in our community by shortening the food line from the other side.
