Catering for Good Helps Kids Program

Students in community kitchenRecently, Second Harvest’s catering department, Catering for Good, had the opportunity to be a part of an End of School Bash for children and families`hosted by Community Health Centers of Central Florida. The event at the Pine Hills center at Princeton Plaza welcomed over 500 kids in the community, and included giving away six brand new bicycles with helmets, free carnival games with prices, music, and an appearance by Nick Anderson, former Orlando Magic basketball star.

Far exceeding the amount of people first projected, Chef Izzy and his team of three students, Chef Jill, our new Food Service Director, Nancy Brumbaugh, and volunteering spouses, quickly met the need, making 600 sandwiches in under an hour and a half!

“The food was provided by Second Harvest Food Bank and was fantastic. We had PBJ and turkey sandwiches, as well as carrots, juice and bottled water,” said John Riordan of the Community Health Centers.  Great job, catering team! Chef Izzy and his team really pulled it together, and we are happy to have been a part of this amazing community event.
