Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida helps feed people in six counties. For us, food is a powerful connection point. It’s a central fact of life. It can be a celebration – but for too many, getting enough to eat can be a struggle.
We are launching Date Night with the Chef to continue to nurture our relationship with the community. It is part of our Catering for Good program, which welcomes the public into our kitchen and event spaces for meetings and celebrations. They discover firsthand our passion for providing fresh food and quality ingredients, and our commitment to quality.
Date Night with the Chef is a cooking class/communal meal that offers a change-of-pace evening out that is as entertaining as it is educational. People have the chance to come together to prepare a four-course menu under the watchful eye of our award-winning chef and instructor, Jill Holland.
Chef Jill will show guests how to master a caper remoulade, create the perfect rollatini, and whip up a chocolate espresso mousse shooter. They will go home with recipes and a little more confidence in the kitchen.
The cost for per participant is $100.
Proceeds go to support our Culinary Training Program. Since the opening of our Mercy Drive location in March 2013, every graduate from our Culinary Training Program has been put back into the workforce as a food service professional. Compared to similar programs, job retention rates are also well above average.
Our next Date Night with the Chef is Friday, February 13, at 6 p.m. We are located at 411 Mercy Drive in Orlando, Florida.
Participation is limited to ensure personal attention and hands-on learning. Check out our EventBrite page to get your tickets, and we’ll see you there!
