With the holiday season in full swing, sometimes it is hard to remember there are kids, seniors, and families who are still struggling to afford the basic necessities, like food, housing, and transportation. Here are five easy ways to give back while you check off friends and family from your shopping list.
1. Publix Food For All
Running until December 24th, make a donation of $1, $3, or $5 at any Publix checkout, and your gift will help support our neighbors in need. $1 can provide up to 4 meals, so even a small donation can make a huge impact.
2. Amazon Smile
Love to shop on Amazon.com? Did you know by using Amazon Smile, every purchase you make will send a donation to Second Harvest? Simply use the link http://bit.ly/shfbSmile to do your shopping, and Amazon will do the rest!
3. Winn Dixie Holiday Hunger Relief Program
Winn Dixie makes it easy to “Give a Dollar. Make a Difference.” this holiday season. Simply donate at the register, and your gift will go toward feeding more of our struggling neighbors in Central Florida. This program will take place in all Winn Dixie stores, and runs until December 23, 2014.
4. Whole Foods Market Food Drive at Turkey Lake
On your next visit to the Whole Foods Market on Turkey Lake Road, look for the specially marked, brown paper bags, that can be bought at the register. These bags, full of food items, will then be picked up by Second Harvest and distributed out into the community to feed more neighbors in need.
5. TOMS at Target
When you purchase specially marked TOMS+Target items from now until March 12, 2015, $3 (12 meals!) will be donated to Feeding America.
As always, you can make a direct gift at www.FeedHopeNow.org/donate. With over 97.4% of your donation going to feeding our struggling neighbors in need, you can trust that your gift is being used efficiently. Thank you for helping us distribute nearly 53 million meals last year. Central Florida is a community of Hunger Heroes, and we could not accomplish our mission without you.
